As we come to the end of the first year of operation of MACMED Concierge Family Practice, I would like to thank you for entrusting me to be your physician. MACMED has grown from two hundred members to three hundred fifteen members as of this writing. This growth causes me to be assured that there is a strong desire for one to have a trusted, personal relationship with their physician. One who is available when needed and willing to be their healthcare advocate when a situation arises for that need.
Speaking of advocacy, I am proud yet humbled to announce that I was recently a recipient of an honor awarded yearly by the Florida Academy of Family Physicians. The award is the “Excellence in Advocacy Award”. The award is given to the Family Physician in Florida who best exemplifies legislative advocacy for family physicians and their patients. This year, as in years past, I met with local legislators, here in Tampa and in Tallahassee, and have traveled to Washington, DC to meet with congressional members from Florida. I feel that my efforts have had some effect even though not all our wishes are acted upon and neither does any change come quickly.
As we step into this new year, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect and prioritize your well-being. The hustle and bustle of everyday life can often lead to exhaustion. Instead, let this be a time to recommit to what truly matters: nurturing relationships, caring for those in need, and seeking purpose in our lives.
